Are you using a netbook or old computer? go with netbook edition
Are you using a newer desktop/laptop? go with desktop edition

Xubuntu Netbook Edition it’s fast and easier than The Normal Version. Go for Xfce on a laptop because Xfce is faster.

All Ubuntu versions can run as a minimum operating system to a full blown Linux Operating system. They all normally use the same software repositories. xUbuntu (XFCE) is lighter in weight, but all this really means is the Desktop Environment they are running. Each Environment will install different software programs by default. You install what you need or want in each version.

Well if you are using a netbook than netbook remix might be the right one. However, depending on the actual hardware on your netbook it might be the same as running desktop edition. I think the only true way to find out is to test both. =) Its free why not test both.
