What’s the difference between Linux and Ubuntu?

Hello. I was considering about downloading Linux to dual boot on my XP (if I’m proper by declaring dual booting is owning both on an person system and picking which an person to boot at startup), but all I find is stuff on Ubuntu. I’m almost certainly only a loser who isn’t going to know very well what they actually are but when you can tell me, I could be very appreciative.

There is not really a difference as such – Ubuntu is a Linux distro.

Linux is the name of the operating system kernel on which distributions such as Ubuntu are built.

Ubuntu is an excellent distribution for a first-time Linux user.

Linux is the generic name for operating systems that are based on an open source copy of UNIX which was developed by Bell Labs.
Linux has various “flavors”, including the free ubuntu.
While there are many different forms of Linux, If you are new I would recommend Ubuntu, as it is very easy for windows users to learn their way around, also it is very popular right now, so there is a lot of support to be found.
Before you do any of this, I strongly recommend backing up everything that you can’t replace, because problems do happen.
