hp dc7600 convertable minitower won’t boot from ubuntu server 9. 10 disk?
By Administrator on Dec 6, 2010 in Server Edition
When I seek out to boot in the disk, it goes right to the really difficult drive. If I disable the really difficult drive in the booting sequence it gives me an mistake saying that the disk is a “non-system disk”
Does any individual have any ideas?
Thanks in advance,

Have you set you BIOS up to boot from disc? May be a dumb question but worth asking.
when you first turn you computer on look for a message that says “Press ‘X’ to enter setup”. May not be worded exactly like that but the ‘X’ could be F!, F2, F12 or DEL. Then look for the boot options and select your dvd drive as the first boot device.
At this point it should boot from the disk. If not, make sure you burned the files to the disk correctly and actually made it bootable.

To boot from your CD/DVD, the BIOS settings on your computer must be configured to do this. On start up keep tapping either F1, F2, F10,(Be Aware that some manufacturers use F10 for system recovery!) Esc, or Del, to enter the BIOS set-up. Look for “Drive configuration”, “Boot order” or similar and make the CD/DVD drive the first boot device and the hard drive the second. Save settings and exit.
Insert the CD/DVD into your CD/DVD drive, and then restart your computer.
When you see the “Press any key to boot from CD” message, press a key to start the computer from the CD/DVD.
