How to resolve the error: no such device: grub rescue?

ubuntu start today 10. 4 with windows installed on different partitions and asked me to install updates and install and restart at the end I asked. and boot I get the following:error: no such device: xxxxxxxxxgrub rescue>devo is what to do to fix this.
