By Administrator on Apr 19, 2010 in Ubuntu Support
I just set up Ubuntu and i am kind of an amateur. primary off, i understand my computer can deal with a greater resolution than 800 X 600 but that is all the settings will allow.

sounds like you installed some incorrect drivers for the video card. if you used the “recommended restricted drivers” which is what i did then it shrank my resolution. to get the correct drivers do this:
sudo apt-get install envyng-gtk
in a terminal window and follow the simple steps once you reboot you should be fine.

Please Check hardware drivers
System>admin>hardware drivers
Choose Recommended driver , and Activate it.
Reboot to take effects.
