Anybody know how to make Linux Ubuntu run a Netgear wireless USB adapter? Or am I just screwed?

I obtained my dad’s desktop computer up and working on ubuntu 6.10.. what I didn’t recognize just before i really do that was that so much program cd’s won’t run under it.. I have to get him hooked equally as much as the internet.. and contain the router and adapter.. I will run the router on my machine, but his is working the linux.. does everyone know how to make the Netgear 54 Mbps wireless 2.0 adapter run about the Ubuntu release? Help!

    You need to make use of the ndiswrapper. Here are some links to help you out:

    I’d try the Ndiswrapper, but it can take so much time and be so much of a hassle, your better off just getting an ethernet card. Ndiswrapper doesn’t always work for every wireless card, but I guess its worth a few tries. If you can’t get it to work, I’d just get it hardwired (ethernet). So much easier on any Linux distro.
